Scoring

Footzil’s scoring system rewards both exact score predictions and correct result predictions. Extra bonuses are awarded for correctly predicting which teams advance in the tournament.

Match points

Important

Exact-score points are not stacked with correct-result points. If you nail the exact score, you get 5 pts; the correct result and goal difference are already included.

Scores are always final scores

When you enter a prediction for a knockout match, the score you predict is compared against the final score after any extra time, not just the 90-minute score. If a match is 1-1 at the end of regular time and ends 2-1 after extra time, we use 2-1 to calculate your points. You predict the final result, and we score the final result — the timing of goals doesn’t matter.

Examples

Predicted 2-1, real 2-1 (Brazil wins) → 5 pts (exact score)

Predicted 2-1, real 3-2 (Brazil wins) → 3 pts (correct result) + 1 pt (same goal difference: +1) = 4 pts

Predicted 2-1, real 2-0 (Brazil wins) → 3 pts (correct result, different goal difference)

Predicted 1-1 with Brazil advancing, real 1-1 after extra time, Brazil wins on penalties → 5 pts (exact score) + 1 pt (penalty bonus) = 6 pts

Predicted 2-1 (Brazil wins) — 1-1 after 90 minutes, real 2-1 after extra time → 5 pts (exact score)

The match was level 1-1 after 90 minutes, but Brazil scored in extra time. We always score the final result (2-1), which matches your prediction exactly — so you get the full 5 pts.

Predicted 1-1 (draw), real 2-1 after extra time (Brazil wins) → 0 pts (wrong result)

The 1-1 scoreline at 90 minutes does not count. The final result was a Brazil win, so your draw prediction was wrong — no points. (A draw prediction only scores if the match is still level after extra time.)

Predicted 1-0, real 0-1 → 0 pts (wrong result)

Tournament bonuses (only on the initial full-tournament prediction)

When you make your initial full-tournament prediction (full_tournament round), you earn extra points for each team you correctly predict to advance in each phase:

Tiebreakers

If two players end up with the same total points, the leaderboard order is decided by:

1. Most exact scores correctly predicted.
2. Most correct winners.
3. Earliest first prediction timestamp (wins whoever predicted earlier).
